Blue Update - We received a great update on Blue:

Dear Owen Sound Animal Shelter, my name is Aaron Barnes and I just wanted to take a minute to personally thank you for a great job you are doing. I adopted a dog from your shelter a little over a year now and we are the best of friends.

His name is Blue and he had a brother named Copper that was also adopted. If you don't remember him that is fine I just wanted to thank you yet again for saving him, he is the best part of my day. I wish you all the best and please keep up the good work. ~Aaron Barnes

Bandit Came to the Shelter - It was a year ago today that my friend Bandit was adopted and it was the blog that helped him find his way. So when Bandit travelled with his people, his dog sister cookie, and his new mom and dad 2 hours to bring me presents, it was like Christmas. With the Christmas feeling inside comes a blog of thanks and appreciation.

Bandit was a “hard to adopt dog”. He was an older boy, black in colour and had no fancy traits or tricks. He was one of three, and the other two were more pretty, and he was the last to go. Seeing his friends leave and missing his family Bandit grew depressed, his coat became dull and his personality matched it. Bandit became Blah.

The few interested persons would take him out and he offered no interest back. On a few occasions he even expressed dislike. Months passed, and Bandit sat. When they sit they grow accustomed to being here, however this does not always bring them happiness. I have however always believed that good things are worth waiting for ... and boy oh boy did this tossed dog end up in the right place. Bandit is now king.

To watch him watch his people brings tears to my eyes, especially his momma (who I might add, feeds him water from a bottle .. bottle baby .. love it!) He smiles with the biggest of smiles, with whole bum wags, and that I love you twinkle in his eyes. He has found youth again and watching him romp is honestly quite awesome. He has gone in one year from blah, to superman, and he knows it and is soooo proud.

It is a wonderful reminder as to why I do my job. It is wonderful to know that all is well in this boys world, as this makes a difference in our world too. (Biggest thank you to his people for giving him a chance, and giving him your heart).  Happy Birthday buddy.

Maxwell the Smart - Here is what Max's new owner says about Chubbs:

He was known as Chubbs, but not for long, his long name is Maxwell the Smart, but doesn't mind Max. Max is not my first dog, but he is the best one. He is the cutest, smartest, and best behaved. We have never met anyone who doesn't just love him. So glad that I made the 2 hr drive to Owen Sound to pick him up.

Oh and by the way it was a very hot day and Max got into his pool by himself no coxing from anyone. It was luck that i had the camera close by. He wears his seat bet in the car but always stays wake and sits up on the console to keep me company when driving home. He sat there for 3 hrs on one trip back from the north. Thank you so much for Max.

Good luck Max!

Panda Update - Hi folks! Hopefully you will find attached a photo taken today of our dear little one - happily settled into the family and with us forever!

Thank you for saving her for us - we cannot imagine our home or family now without her - seems like she has always been here. She is coming along well - still shy in new situations which we understand however she loves her yard and friends and family and walks and sleeps with us and is eating well. ~Anne

Lusha Update - Greetings to Everyone! It’s Lusha here just letting you know that I am settling in well so far with the Barnes family. Phantom and I do laps of the yard wrestling and playing chase, while the boys cheer us on.

I have met some of the neighbours and they have daily treats for us canines when we behave at the fence. And at bath time I am the boys supervisor sitting by the tub!

Thanks for taking such great care of me and all the other animals. Keep up the good work you all do at the shelter. ~Luv Lusha

Peter Update - We received a great update on Peter.

Hi there, remember me?  It's Peter, that's who.  I'm roaming the trails, always looking for water to swim in.  So many trails, so much water.  (I like the swamps the best -- nice and muddy!)

I've already spotted deer and skunk and a nasty old porcupine.  But I'm a smart guy and knew to just look and not touch!! Miss you all, but still wouldn't want to come back to you -- too many cats. Love, Peter.

Very nice update and Peter looks so happy!
