I find it very disturbing that people treat their cats or dogs like disposable items.  A cat or a dog is a commitment for life.  i.e. their life and it is up to us to give them the best chance we can.  We have had both cats and dogs through out our married life and have always kept them under control.  The cats were never outdoor cats and the dogs were on leash or fenced.  Most of our cats were rescued from shelters so therefore were a bit older.  The last two are brothers and we adopted them when they were 5 years old and now they are 8.  Very spoiled and loved, even though they are a lot of work as they have long fur.  They do bring us a lot of love.  They were neutered and if they had not been we would have had that done as were all the cats and dogs we have had.  Unwanted births are avoidable and unnecessary.  I don't believe cats should be allowed to roam as should dogs not be allowed to roam.  Would you let your child roam the streets to be hit by a car etc.  I don't think so.  These cats and dogs are part of the family.  Vent all you want Robin maybe someday people will listen. ~ Val
