I love the personal touch you give to the shelter, and to the animals in your care. I have often worried about the animals who are in vets offices on regular nights, after surgeries etc... and hoped for people like you that visit and let them know they are loved. The homeless pets in your care are so much more loved and cared for than they probably have been in their lives. The poor things need love, and deserve care. They are so lucky to have you and your family as their guardian angels! Nicole

How wonderful! I know exactly what you mean!! Several Christmas’ ago we found a starving, feral cat in our basement and he was just a terrified skeleton with skin! We managed to catch him and cage him and over the weeks of feeding him and keeping him warm, he bonded with me. Since then we had him fixed and got his shots up to date and he has become one of our 3 loved barn cats with their own beds to snuggle into, however, he is happiest if I close him in a cage at night. It seems to make him feel safe and he waits for me to come and close him in….in the morning I let him back out to enjoy his day. Animals that have known abandonment, starvation and fear are quite different from those that have been loved all their lives. They seem to appreciate everything that much more and, for them, a warm, safe place with a belly full of food and a soft place to lay is like heaven. Although your shelter isn’t as perfect as a loving home, it’s definitely the next best thing!! I’ve attached a picture of my now healthy, happy, semi-feral cat, Smokey, who loves to ride around on my shoulder like a parrot while I tend to my horses. Sincerely, Shannon N.
