I think it was Tolstoy who said you cannot argue with a fool. Chin up. You do a great service and WE SUPPORT YOU!! James and Karen

Renee, Todd and Staff, we are behind you 150% - keep up the good work. Elaine and Family

Renee and Todd, I would just like to tell you that what ever the darkness is, don't let it knock you down. You two have made a huge difference in our community and surrounding area. The shelter has come a full circle and has allowed many mistreated and abused and injured animals a chance at survival. The spay and neuter and in home vet service that you have in place is wonderful. If you ever need supporter help with anything just ask as I know that you have the support of many in the surrounding community. I have sat back and watched over the years as the shelter has blossomed into a wonderful place, compared to the dull and dingy place that it once was. The community should be happy that there are individuals such as yourselves that have put so much into what you do. Without you the shelter would not be the place that it is today. Thank you for doing what you do! If you ever need someone to speak on your behalf do not hesitate to call and let me know as I would be pleased and honoured to do so. A friend and supporter in the community Kelly B.

Can you and your staff look in the mirror and know that you've done the best you can? Can you look at yourselves in the mirror and know that you've made a difference to hundreds of furry people and their two legged friends? Then you hold your heads high, look these people in the eye and say "where have you been?" Did you chase Will in a blinding snowstorm and crawl into his cage and hold his head while he puked all over you???? Of course not. But unfortunately those who point the fingers only come out when they're cornered or caught in the wrong. Owen Sound is lucky to have you, Todd and your staff. You are our shelter of choice and we'll always support you. Janice, Wayne, Figment Lilly & family

Hi Renee, Todd and all your staff, I am appauled that someone would attack the Owen Sound Shelter!!! I'm completely disguested, and my heart is hurting.....because without I couldn't even count the numbers animals that would have never found their forever home, and experienced such great care from you all in the meantime. I can't even imagine my three kitties, still waiting for a home, or having been put down because their "time was up", same as the dog ("willy") that you took because his days were done elsewhere...my mom talks all the time about how that is terrible. Yet there you and your staff are, the last defense against the cruelty of humanity. You are the ones that gives love to those others have forgotten or discarded, you are the ones that give warmth to those that are cold and thing, and you are the ones that give health to those that are struggling to survive, when other people would have given up the fight. I wanted to say thank you all with all of my heart!!! I remeber bringing in "wheels" to you, the poor barn cat from Williamsford, that was paralyzed and would have been put down on the spot anywhere else. Instead I paid the charge, you all took her in, cared for her over the holidays and ensure that her last days were full of love and wamrth.....as opposed to being left to die cold alone. That memory is always with me, and to you all I owe a great deal, because as I'm unable to care for all such animals, you all are the first that come into my mind. It calms my mind and warms my soul to know that there are people like you, the rest of us can count on!!! If you need anything, please feel free to let me know :) Kerri

Renee, I have been in rescue for many years, and there are those that will try their best to bring people who do have compassion in their hearts; down. Human nature is ugly, and for those that sling mud at others, they do so because they need to lift themselves up – and give themselves importance. Indeed it is twisted, but again that is man for you. Being in rescue, we never usually look to shelters or animal services for help. However, your reputation is such that you are trusted more so than others. Many rescues and shelters will rally around you as we know the truth about who you are, and what you represent. What you represent is compassion, empathy, and have an undying love for animals. Do not let this get you down as you have no idea how many people and organizations are behind you. I trust you implicitly. I have confidence in who you are, what you do and I have seen for myself all the lives you have saved, and continue to save. You are human Renee…but the good kind. Chin up – and we are all here for you. Yours in Rescue, Joy

Renee and Todd, Do not let anyone convince you that you are not both doing a great job. The animals we have adopted from you have added nothing but joy to our lives. The idea that they could have just as easily been put down is a scary thought. These animals are full of life and love. If you were not there, we would not have them today. All these animals came to us from a place that obviously took great care of them both physically & emotionally. Timbit was rescued from a snow bank near death, you saved her, Dakoda is blind in one eye and you kept her with you for months before we took her, (she loves to visit you as well) Olaf was to be putdown and you saved her, you took in Cracker and retrained him to live with people again. Our two dogs and two cats live great lives together because of what you two do. Our lives have been positively impacted because of the work you two do, as well as your well trained help. If there is anything that Anne and I can do to help, just ask and we will be there for you. Your group has done so much for us. The genuine respect and love you have for animals would be impossible to replace. Keep smiling, you deserve to! Paul and Anne C.

Hi Renee - I KNOW none of these allegations are true. My God, you guys are the ONLY shelter I would even give the time of day to, knowing how much you cherish all of the animals. If there is ANYTHING I can do - ANYTHING (including going to court to testify on your behalf, God forbid it should come to that) - I would be more than willing. Please let me know if I can help you out in any way. God bless. Karen

Hi Renee, I was just reading articles on your blog and was horrified to read that you had to defend your shelter. Whoever complained must be nuts—you run a great place. We thank you every day for Madison and the love and joy he has brought to us. How can some people even think this of your place. I wish you well and please keep up the wonderful work you do. Regards Elaine K.

Renee, You always do great job and I love my pups very much! Keep up the good work! Ingrid W.
