Nancy-Lou Patterson, author of  Barricade Summer, The Quilted Grapevine, and The Haunted Bed and Breakfast, has a deep attachment for the Bruce Peninsula.  Professor emerita of the University of Waterloo, she is an art historian, artist, and storytelling grandmother.  Each summer, Nancy-Lou and her family summer near Sauble Beach.

She has published two other novels for young people, and numerous scholarly works.
